Hi everyone, my name is Kelsey Shilling and I'm from Fairbanks, AK but I've been going to school for the past two years in Bozeman, MT. I will be a junior in January at Montana State University in Missoula in the nursing program. I live in Fairbanks only in the summers, but I still consider it my home, and if the Lord wills I'd like to move back there as soon as I finish school! During the school year I have worked at a daycare part-time, and for the past two summers I've been a counselor at a summer ranch camp in Alaska. I really have enjoyed that, I love working with kids! I also really have been learning to enjoy working at a ranch and equestrian activities, although it wasn't something I was especially interested in when I started. I really love the outdoors: hiking, swimming, snowmachining, kayaking, boating, hunting, fishing... pretty much anything, haha.
I've done a little bit with missions before: when I was a freshman and sophomore in high school in Mexico and then the summer before my junior year in high school on the east coast of the U.S. and Switzerland, but I'm not familiar at all with such long term - it's definitely going to be exciting, I'm really anxious to see how the Lord works this fall!! I really expect the Him to do some really amazing things, both in my heart, in the team that we have, and the people that are going to be ministering to! I've really been praying a lot for this trip, and I'm just really excited to see what all He does! A lot of little things tend to make me nervous about this trip: how much shampoo to bring, will I be able to talk to my family, how will I pay rent for the spring, haha - and then Jesus reminds me that this is what He has called me to, and He is going to work even the little things out! The Lord has just been telling me a little bit of His heart for this trip, it seems that revival is going on in His people and just how He wants to revive my heart, and our team, and be able to with a new fire spread His love to people in Swazi! I'm so excited to see how this goes, and I've just been preparing myself to submit to serve however our Lord wills to work things out for this semester! I'm praying for you all, and I'm excited to meet you in a few months!
