Hello SWAZILAND team, I am Kaitlin Akert. I live in Roselle, Illinois- a northwest suburb of Chicago. This past semester I completed my second year of college. My first year I attended College of Dupage, a community college in my area. Going into my second year I transferred to Indiana Wesleyan University; pursuing a major in nursing (during that semester is when I began to feel a calling to go out in the mission field). After a semester at Indiana Wesleyan, I transferred back to College of Dupage and now I have no idea what the future plans for an education or career will be for me. I do enjoy working and interacting with people and I like the environment of the medical field, so we’ll see what the future has to hold. I work at Platt Hill Nursery, which is basically a garden center. It’s beautiful! I enjoy being outside and active in outside activities. This includes bike riding, kayaking, hiking, and camping. I love to travel. I run and play tennis. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I like reading and journaling. I dislike pop; pop is way to bubbly for me. I rarely watch TV and movies. I have never been out of the country. I have been a co-counselor the past multiple summers at a camp for inner city kids from South Bend, Indiana. I have had a great experience and many unforgettable moments while working with these kids. I am SUPER excited for Swaziland! I am READY to be a servant to others, to live out of my comfort zone, but most importantly to give God all the glory and honor through everything that will go on in Swaziland! At first I was not nervous at all, I was so excited that I knew this is what God had planned for me in a few months and now two months to go I am getting a little nervous. The thing that gets me nervous is living in a whole different culture. BUT I know everything will be a blessing and so good! I am ready to see how God is going to stretch me and use me for his glory. God is in control. He is preparing us all to go out on the mission field to serve him and others awaiting us! He is faithful, always.
